In 1972, only 15 years old, founded his first band,
JOSAFAT, with the entry of Silvio Capeccia, in the year 1974 they create The Champagne Molotov (name that recur often in the first part of his solo career).
In 1977 from the fusion of Champagne Molotov and the band Trifoglio, Decibel were born.
They're first album in 1978 was named after the band (commonly known as Punk because of an inscription on the cover); the album, published for Spaghetti Records was a failure (a few hundred copies), not only, a complaint for contempt of religion because of the lyrics of the song "Paparock", wich will be disguised in the mix, making it unintelligible to listen.
After the single "Indigestione disko", and the return of Silvio Capeccia, success comes with participation in Sanremo with the song "Contessa", extracted from the album "Vivo da re", whose title track will take part in the Festivalbar of that year.

In 1981 Enrico Ruggeri started his own solo career produced by who became the lifetime artist's producer, Silvio Crippa.
Starting the decades-long collaboration with guitarist Luigi Schiavone.
The result is the album "Champagne Molotov" with the record company "SIF".
The project does not achieve the desired success for different reasons.
In part because of legal problems with the 'Spaghetti Records'.
In this period Ruggeri also worked as author for some pop singers like Diana Est (writing lyrics for her first two singles "Tenax" in 1982 and "Le Louvre" in 1983), Den Harrow, Jock Hattle, Albert One.
The year 1983 with the album "Polvere", marked his entrance in the CGD record company, fame and success came along.
The single-track, named after the album, reached success, crowned by the second place at the Festivalbar and participation in the Italian summer song festival Azzurro.
The song "Il mare d'inverno", was led to success by Loredana Bertè, after one year Ruggeri recorded the song that crowned him as one of the most important author in the italian music scene.
This was the opening of his artistic horizons to the kind of Ruggeri songwriting, while not denying matrick rock.

In 1984, Ruggeri returns to the Festival of Sanremo with the song "Nuovo Swing", which marks the turn towards a style that echoes the style of French chansonnier. "Presente" was the following album, mixing new songs with live performances (including a cover version of Domenico Modugno "Vecchio Frack"), which also competed in Festivalbar.
In the same edition of Sanremo he produced the emerging group "Canton", writing for them the song "Sonnambulismo".
An English version will also be released.
1985-1986:
After a brief partnership with Mimmo Locasciulli, Ruggeri knows a prolific season that saw him release three inspiring works within eighteen months, albums that will permanently enshrine the entry into the ranks of the most popular Italian singer-songwriters.
"Tutto scorre", the mini LP "Difesa Francese" and Enrico VIII, wich was the first to make its entrance in the Top 20. Also at the Sanremo Festival 1986 achieved the prize from the jury for "Rien ne va plus", a song in ternary rhythm with accompaniment of an accordion.
Ruggeri also becomes one of the most widely sought after by many female performers, including the most reliable Fiorella Mannoia and Loredana Bertè.

In 1987 he returns to Sanremo with Gianni Morandi and Umberto Tozzi (born as part of the beneficial association of the football team of Italian singers) with the song "Si può dare di più" they win the event.
Follows an ambitious tour in Italian theaters with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Alessandria, and his lifetime trusted band, which will witness in the double live cd "Vai Rouge"!.
Also in that year The critic's award prize at Sanremo Whith "Quello che le donne non dicono" sung by Fiorella Mannoia, whose music is Luigi Schiavone, who will sign many other successes of the most acclaimed Ruggeri.
In 1988, the album "La parola ai testimoni", using electronic tools and digital platforms, got a decent response.
The following year, it's time for "Contatti", which features three previously unreleased and the coeval "Il funambolo" (co-written with Riccardo Cocciante), orchestrated by the Moscow Philharmonic, along with covers of other songwriters Italian Ivano Fossati, Lucio Dalla, Francesco Guccini Sergio Endrigo Lucio Battisti, Francesco De Gregori, gli Alunni del sole.

In 1990 , with the album IL FALCO E IL GABBIANO , Ruggeri goes back to a sort of rock sound, which leads him towards the highest levels of sales in his whole career, also thanks to his single TI AVRO’.
The antithetical dualism between these two winged creatures (FALCO=hawk and GABBIANO=seagull) represents not only a real logo, but also a clear double artistic identity Ruggeri will be very proud of, despite the criticism of those who will not agree with his choice to be fond of such different and contrasting genres (a very “bloody” rock with punk inspiration on one side, and the French-like intimist song singing-writing on the other).
The following year the brand new successful album PETER PAN is out: 400.000 copies are sold in a few months. On top of this success, in 1993, Ruggeri wins at the Festival di Sanremo for the second time, with the song MISTERO, that he himself considered too rock to get to crow over a victory.
The next album is LA GIOSTRA DELLA MEMORIA, among the first ones to experiment with the mixed-album formula: old songs together with unpublished ones, interpretetions of works written for other artists and live performances, some of which unpublished. Still in 1993 he takes part in the Eurofestival (second last Italian in history) with the song SOLE D’EUROPA, getting to the 12th position.

In 1994 OGGETTI SMARRITI is out. The album, which is at the same level of the previous three, is filled with clever intuitions, and it marks a musical evolution towards progressive sonorities. In 1996 the crisis in the relationship with the record company CGD (which had been incorporated to the American company Warner, some years before) marks the partial failure of the ambitious and valuable concept album FANGO E STELLE.
In 1997, moved to a new record company (PDU) he records DOMANI E’ UN ALTRO GIORNO.
Ruggeri will also be exposed to the foreign market, with an album in Spanish.
The title, LA GENTE CON ALMA, refers to the song LA GENTE DI CUORE which, in the Italian version, is sung together with MARCO MASINI.
In 1999 L’ISOLA DEI TESORI is released.
It is basically made of songs, both famous and not, written for other artists and groups in the past, which he now interprets himself, often with their participation. A bonus track, called La chanson de Mimie, appears as a French version of LA POESIA.

In 2000 Ruggeri moves to SONY BMG. L’UOMO CHE VOLA is brought out, with the single GIMONDI E IL CANNIBALE, used as the official tune for the cycle racing Il Giro d’Italia. 2001 is the year of the acoustic re-interpretations of the double live LA VIE EN ROUGE. In 2002 he takes part in the Festival di Sanremo , with the ballade PRIMAV ERA A SARAJEVO: ANDREA MIRO’ appears as authoress and conductor.
The song draws inspiration from the war of Bosnia-Herzegovina, occurred some ears before, and reminds of sonorities which are typical of that region.
In 2003, together with Andrea Mirò, he goes back to Sanremo with NESSUNO TOCCHI CAINO, a song against death penalty, written after joining the homonymous association. Enrico interprets the thoughts of a headsman who deals with what, from his point of view, is just a job, whereas Andrea voices the feelings of the convict who is hoping for a bit of mercy.
The album GLI OCCHI DEL MUSICISTA is out, including the song LA PREGHIERA DEL MATTO, a dramatic incursion in the world of mental disease. In 2004 in PUNK PRIMA DI TE, he records some pieces of the first Decibel album, together with some covers of punk and rock hits from the 70s, such as songs by DAVID BOWIE, LOU REED, SEX PISTOLS, RAMONES. In the same year the first double live dvd is released for SONY MUSIC: ULISSE. In 2005 he publishes AMORE E GUERRA, while the following year the collection CUORE MUSCOLI E CERVELLO is out. It’s a triple cd with both unpublished and published material, in which Ruggeri tries to divide his work in the three categories composing the title: heart, muscles and brain.
On Christmas time in 2007 a new album is out, full of covers of Christmas classics (such as White Christmas) that Ruggeri interprets his own way.
In 2008 the new album ROCK SHOW is released. Ruggeri goes back to rock sounds, and tells about his own experiencies as a rock musician and singer who has been working for over 30 years.

This extraordinary happening makes the wheel spin until October.
